Western Basin of Lake Erie -- April 1st until after Labor Day
When fishing the Western Basin, I'm docked at Meinke Marina West located just 12 miles east of Toledo, Ohio. The marina is close to the Ohio Turnpike's exit 71, Interstate 75, Interstate 280 and Ohio State Route 2.

From the East or West – Take I-80/90 (Ohio Turnpike) to Exit 71.Go North on I-280 to Exit 7.At top of hill turn right.Go to the next stoplight and turn right on Navarre Ave. (SR 2).Go 12 miles East on SR 2 until you see the Lake Erie Lodge sign on your right.You will turn left at the next road which is Teachout.There is a D.G.’s Ice Cream store at the corner of Teachout & SR 2.Take Teachout to the end and turn right.Go ˝ mile to Szuch’s Bait Shop for licenses if needed.Go across the street to dock #E106.
From the North – Take I-75 South to I-280 south to Exit 7.Turn left onto Navarre Ave. (SR 2) and go 12 miles East until you see the Lake Erie Lodge sign on your right. You will turn left at the next road which is Teachout.There is a D.G.’s Ice Cream store at the corner of Teachout & SR 2.Take Teachout to the end and turn right.Go ˝ mile to Szuch’s Bait Shop for licenses if needed.Go across the street to dock #E106.
From the South – Take I-75 North to SR 795 East. Take 795 East to I-280 North to Exit 7, Navarre Ave. (SR 2).Turn right onto Navarre Ave and go 12 miles East until you see the Lake Erie Lodge sign on your right. You will turn left at the next road which is Teachout.There is a D.G.’s Ice Cream store at the corner of Teachout & SR 2.Take Teachout to the end and turn right.Go ˝ mile to Szuch’s Bait Shop for licenses if needed.Go across the street to dock #E106.
Central Basin of Lake Erie -- September through October
When fishing the Central Basin of Lake Erie, I'm docked at the Huron Municipal Boat Basin in Huron, Ohio. The marina is located near St. Rt. 2 and the Ohio Turnpike, exit 118.

Take the Ohio Turnpike East to Exit 118 - Sandusky/Norwalk.Take Rt. 250 North for approximately 1 mile, turn right on Huron-Avery Road.Huron-Avery Road is a two-lane road that will take you Northeast through farmland.Huron-Avery Road will eventually fork, (continue on left fork) and road name will change to Main Street.As you’re coming into Huron (don’t blink or you’ll miss it) there will be a drive-thru carryout/bait shop on the right where you can buy your fishing licenses.If you cross the railroad tracks, you’ve missed the carry out/bait shop. After purchasing your licenses, continue North on Main Street, crossing Rt. 6.Follow N. Main Street through the “S” curves and the Huron Municipal Boat Basin will be to your right.
Directions if you’re coming via Rt. 2:
Take 75N to I-280 South.The 3rd exit after the Maumee River will be the Navarre/Rt. 2 exit.Turn left onto Rt. 2 and take it approximately 55 miles.The Huron exits are just past Sandusky.Get off on the 2nd Huron exit which is Rt. 6 (Cleveland Rd. East).Rt. 6 goes directly through Huron, don’t blink because you’ll miss it. At the 2nd traffic light is Main Street - If you need fishing licenses – turn right.Cross the railroad tracks and the drive-thru carryout/bait shop is on your left. If you do not need fishing licenses – turn left onto Main Street.Follow Main Street through the “S” curves and the Boat Basin will be on your right.The hotel is behind the parking lot.
