More Information

Come experience an exciting and fun day on Lake Erie fishing for Walleye, Perch or Smallmouth Bass with Captain Paul Pacholski on Erie Hopper Charters.  Captain Paul's customers' range from fishing fanatics to families to business-sponsored trips.  Whether you're an experienced fisherman or just a novice, Captain Paul individualizes each trip to fit your needs.
Beginning April 1st., Captain Paul fishes the Western Basin of Lake Erie located 12 miles east of Toledo, Ohio.  In April and early May we begin our season jig fishing for Walleye.  If you enjoy jig fishing for walleye, this is some of the fastest and most exciting action of the season.  The walleye are aggressive and will practically rip the pole out of your hands.  We are centrally located between the reef areas and the Maumee Bay, making a short boat ride to the hottest fishing locations.
Once the Walleye's move off their spawning beds and into the open water of the Western Basin, we drift fish, casting and retrieving weight forward spinners and worm harnesses.  We DO NOT TROLL aboard Erie Hopper Fishing Charters!  Walleyes are the primary target until mid-August, at which time Yellow Perch and Smallmouth Bass begin biting consistently.
Shortly after Labor Day, we follow the Walleyes and move our center of operations to Huron, Ohio in the Central Basin where we find an excellent fall fishery of trophy-sized Walleyes.  The deeper, cooler waters of the Central Basin hold these big Fall fish.  This is the time they feed heavily in preparation for winter.

In the Central Basin you will also find some of the world's best Smallmouth Bass and Yellow Perch fishing.  The bass will range in size from 15" to 21" and the Perch here are large and plentiful with an average size of 9" to 11".

Our season generally ends around the first week of November.
